Success at Bike-A-Thon
Thanks to all the PTC members who came out to our first Bike-A-Thon Saturday, January 14, 2011. At first many planned to share the four hour time slot—the spirit and enthusiasm was so high most members rode for two or more hours solo!! Some of this included taking breaks to chat with other members or refuel with tasty bagels and cream cheese from the Bagel Factory, or sip on hot coffee donated by Dunkin Donuts! Not only did the club raise health and fitness levels, but we also collected over 20 HUGE bags of donated clothes, which were distributed to local charities throughout the Pittsburgh area including Goodwill and Community Human Services, a non-profit organization with a mission to enhance people’s lives and strengthen communities by delivering comprehensive services that maximize the health and well-being of those it serves in South Oakland and the greater Pittsburgh area, http://www.chscorp.org/.
It was amazing to see many PTC members ride farther than they had ever ridden before—what an accomplishment, and for so many good reasons including charity and wellness! Special THANK YOU goes out to Pro Bikes for all their help and allowing us to use their cycling studio!!! It was a great time—thanks to all that contributed.
Don’t forget to log ALL these and other miles for the USAT National Club Challenge! Participants log their miles swimming, biking and running over the course of December through February.
